CHUB.

and check this one. the kix are immaculate!

hey guys.. i know, it's been 3 months and i promised you all some photo shoots of some of my pals.. but! things get crazy, you know? just hang on, it's about to pop!

first, thanks to Walter van Beirendonck for acknowledging bearstyle's, er, acknowledgement of him! he reposted the blog on his facebook and added me as a friend. sweet, right? send us some free kix, Walt! (hee hee)

so I'd like to talk to you today about Kurt Jo. I typed in "non-typical male models" at google, looking for some bear/chubby models and this handsome gentleman showed up. He's a DJ and model from Hawaii now living in NYC,

and he's a part of the New York fashion agency Ugly NY. Take a gander at some of his pics and peep his style! Also watch this terrible Rachel Ray video (it's the only one of him i can find) and see how much of a sweetheart he is.

For more pix and to download some of his mixes, which at first listen are deep/spacey euro disco, go here: http://kurtjo.com/

Walter Van Beirendonck

Walter's one of the few bears/big dudes who are actually making fashion for his fellow bear/big guy. Some of his pieces are pretty explosively day-glo, some are more avant garde and made for the runway. However, most of his pieces can be worn as a statement piece, mixed and matched with other items that are more subtle. However, in this video I see full 'fits that can be worn as a complete look! Definitely worth checking out guys

drjays.com

hey guys, sorry i've abandoned you! I'm back for a bit, and hopefully next week I will get into some of the things I promised earlier, as well as new trend reports on shorts, ties, and t-shirts.

For now, feast your eyes on drjays.com ! They have a great big and tall section and in general feature larger sizes up to 6x, and not just like, a boring polo your grand dad would wear, but fashionable and stylish gear from companies like Mecca, Ecko, Enyce, Blac Label, Konvict and others. Yes, these are largely hip hop styles, but fashion is so incestuous these days that most companies are releasing similar items across the board. For instance, the checked gingham shirt, first popularized by the Mod/Skinhead movement of the late 60s in England, is now a staple in the fashion-diet of every subculture. And although it's not Ben Sherman or Fred Perry, Enyce's is fine substitute since the other companies (unfairly?) don't offer 'em in your size.

So go to DR Jay's and check it out!

My boyfriend makes his bear style now! debut

this is me and my boyfriend at the Warpaint concert. The ties we are wearing are made by Jess Switag. I love these funky, steampunky, artisanal ties!

my dude is rocking a Swiss Cross utility button down... el cheapo, but i like the way the quasi-military/work-wear style looks on his larger frame

You can find this company's stuff at places like Burlington Coat Factory, TJ Maxx or Foreman Mills.

Me, I'm wearing my customary Fred Perry! They are my favorite brand. The cuts, designs, and quality are absolutely perfect for the polo wearer who wants something a little different. Unfortunately, I've yet to see them offer sizes greater than 2xl, however there are plenty of polo companies that make cool stuff in larger sizes (Gant, Penguin, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger)

random cute and stylish chubby guy

This guy's look is amazing. Love the slightly over-sized London trench coat and the absolutely gorgeous vest! Layering is awesome, especially when the pieces are so classic. It's getting warmer out there, but here in Philly it's still a bit nippy, so a light trench and a vest are very doable.
